Jon Christensen for Riverside County Treasurer
As a 5th generation Riverside County Resident who was raised in a farming family, it is a privilege to serve our community, our businesses, and the county we call home.
Prior to my time in the Treasurer – Tax Collector’s office, I honorably served in the Army and National Guard for over eight years. Combined with my 26 years in the financial sector, both public and private, I gained the knowledge, experience and fortitude to serve as the Riverside Treasurer-Tax Collector.
Having served in the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office before, during and after the Great Recession, I have a proven record showing I can manage our finances and successfully lead the department, all while making sure the office continues its necessary functions to keep Riverside County finances running efficiently.
During my 16 years of service with the office, I have actively managed our county’s $7 billion investment pool and attained the highest possible rating of AAA by Fitch and Moody’s.We have increased the number of taxpayers that pay their county tax bills on time and have the lowest delinquency rate in modern county history.
Under my watch, the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s office has been working with the County Assessor-Clerk-Recorder and the County Auditor-Controller to reform our 45 year old property tax management platform to create a more efficient, modern, integrated system that will serve us for years to come.
During my tenure in office, I have worked diligently to fairly and efficiently collect property taxes and safeguard the county’s investments to ensure the efficient flow of funds through the county treasury. All of these functions are vital to the fiscal viability of the county, schools and special districts that make up the Treasurer’s Pooled Investment Fund. With your support, I will continue to make Riverside County a great place to live.
